POSTPONED - OneWave's 7th Birthday - World Fluro Wave for mental health
Coronavirus I Keeping ourselves safe and well
Updated Monday 16th March 2020
Out of caution and concern for the safety of the OneWave community, family and friends, OneWave has made the decision to postpone OneWave's 7th Birthday World Fluro Wave event this Friday 20th March, because of the risks of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
There is a lot of fear and uncertainty right now and a lot of people are isolated, so looking after our mental health is more important than ever. We may not be able to create a World Fluro Wave for mental health at the beach this Friday, but we can create a World Fluro Wave online to show our support.
Thanks to you good people we haven't missed a week of getting fluro for mental health in 7 years - that's 364 weeks of showing up in fluro for the people who need it most. Hard times bring people together, so this Friday lets show people around the world that they are not alone and give them some hope by posting a fluro selfie at home in your brightest attire, with your arms outstretched and tagging @onewaveisallittakes #flurofriday #youarenotalone.
If you still want to run a regular Fluro Friday with a small group this Friday (because in hard times we surf), we ask that you take preventative measures as per the World Health Organisation (advice):
We love you heaps, but please stay home and get well rather than organising/attending a Fluro Friday if you meet any of the following criteria:
1) If you have any of the Corona symptoms:
Stay at home if you begin to feel unwell, even with mild symptoms such as headache and slight runny nose, until you recover.
If you develop fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical advice promptly as this may be due to a respiratory infection or other serious condition.
2) If you’ve been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, you must also isolate yourself for 14 days after your last contact with the confirmed case
3) If you’re travelling or returning to Australia, you are required to self-isolate for 14 days. This applies to all travellers, including Australian citizens. For details see the Australian Border Force website.
The safety of you and the community is number one. If you are running Fluro Friday this week please ensure the following:
Check the risks of Coronavirus in your local area and remember your safety is number one. Please don't hesitate at postponing Fluro Friday events and you can show your support for mental health online, by posting a fluro selfie at home and tagging @onewaveisallittakes #flurofriday #youarenotalone.
If you do decide to run a Fluro Friday with a small group make sure you take preventative measures as per the World Health Organisation (advice):
Maintain social distancing at Fluro Friday - Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Thank you for everything you do for OneWave and all the people you have helped over the last seven years of fluro. We know this is a stressful time so please take care of your good selves and stay safe. Let me know if you have any questions.
We will let you know as soon as we confirm a new date for the 7th Birthday World Fluro Wave and we will make it the biggest one yet!!
We may not be able to hug right now, but we can still surf and throw shakas :)
Big love.
